Peggy-Creator, Counselor, and “The Girl Guide”
As a mother, grandmother, and a licensed professional counselor, I understand the wonder and beauty of adolescence–and the challenges. My heart tugs as girls express their private fears about growing up. Toxic cultural messages make growing up more like a “minefield” than the hopeful journey it should be. That’s why I developed Healthy Transitions for Girls®, a curriculum to help girls ages 8 to 14 to develop positive body image. I believe Healthy Transitions for Girls is an “essential prevention tool” for today’s girls.
I offer private counseling and therapeutic groups through my office in Nampa, Idaho. I also give girls workshops in schools, agencies, and faith-based settings. I train parents and professionals to be certified “Girl Guides” so they can use Healthy Transitions for Girls principles and activities to help the girls they love.
An Eastern Idaho farm-girl by birth, I have lived all over the West, from Alaska to Southern California, and in Washington, Oregon, and Utah. I now live in a 1940’s farmhouse on a mini-farm in Western Idaho, where my husband and I manage our cows, chickens, ducks, an orchard, and a fledgling garden. I have the best of all worlds—a country life and the opportunity to share my education and experience with you through my curriculum, Healthy Transitions for Girls. Anna- Social Media Marketer and Web and Product Developer
I am currently a junior in college, studying Elementary Education. The challenges of learning and working with children make my heart sing! I grew up on a ranch in a teeny town in Southern Oregon which has given me a deep love for the outdoors. I enjoy fishing, hiking, swing dancing, reading, being creative, and learning new things. Most of all, I adore the little things in life. I value the task of finding joy in day-to-day living and share my discoveries in my blog, “Today is My Happiness.”
I have seen firsthand how the principles taught in Healthy Transitions for Girls bring joy! So many negative messages bombard girls today. I see the distress that girls feel from these messages as I work in the schools. I relish the opportunity to challenge these messages through Healthy Transitions for Girls social media marketing. Our #lovethegirl campaign shares positive messages that build girls from the inside out. Celebrate with us!
Katie-Blog Specialist, Project Developer, and Yoga Instructor
I love being a girl! My innate sense of how to comfort and nurture guides me every day. As a licensed massage therapist, specialized in medical massage, and as a Certified Yoga Instructor trained in Thai Partner Yoga Therapy, I see the vital connection between the body and the mind. Clients come to me burdened with health struggles and the stress of everyday living. Where do are all these stressors show up? In their bodies!
The relationship a girl has with her body affects every area of a her life! In my girls’ yoga classes, I integrate Healthy Transitions for Girls activities with yoga to help young girls develop that all important “mind body connection.” When a girls sees her body as a “best friend for life,” she can be the leader she was born to be!
Being a “whirlwind” of energy and personality, I keep myself channeled by reading, writing, dancing, and running. I am a “mother” to many green and growing plants and love starting my morning off with a cup of warm herb tea. I truly love life, people, and the experience of living!
